Garett Teel

Garett Teel’s mastery of baseball came from his experiences with the LA Dodgers, but his respect and love for the game began very early on. Garett was named All-State in 1985 and 1986 at Ridgefield Park High School, and he was chosen to be an All-Bergen County Century Player. He continued to play in college at William Paterson University, where he was named College All-America in 1987. He made several personal achievements including First Team All-Conference in 1986, 1987 and 1988, and was named the Best Catcher of the half Century Team. To further enhance his baseball career, he played in the prestigious Cape Cod Collegiate Baseball league.

Professionally, Garett was drafted in the 11th round of the 1989 MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Playing five years in the minor leagues and as a catching coach for two, he gained an extensive and unique knowledge set from great people like John Roseboro, Roy Campanella, Maury Wills, Chico Fernandez, Reggie Smith and Dave Wallace.

Garett took his incredible experience, and decided to apply his knowledge and passion to teaching the game that he loves. He established Teels Baseball in 1999, and has trained over 200 players who are playing or have played in college, at all divisions. Fifteen of the players he has trained have been drafted, and are playing or have played professionally. In addition, he established several Elite programs in catching that are utilized throughout the tri-state area. These programs have produced several players that are drafted or signed to professional contracts, most notably, Eric Duncan, NY Yankees 1st Round Draft Pick, out of Seton Hall Prep High School. Some other drafted players are Mike Murray, Robert Kral, Frank Florio, Lee Rubin and AJ Murray.

He has spent years training his instructors, developing progressions for hitters, fielders, and catchers, and obtaining all the necessary knowledge to ensure his players cultivate proficiency and understanding of their discipline.

Thomas Atlee

Thomas was drafted as a pitcher by the Chicago Cubs in the 2002 draft, and was a member of their organization until 2007. He played at every level, was a part of three championship teams, and was named the organization’s top relief pitcher in 2004. He then went on to play for the Milwaukee Brewers in 2008. He created Top Gun, the first high-level pitching program at Teels, and has coached pitching since 2008, established a medical advisory board to ensure top care from True Sports Orthopedists, and coached the Teels high school travel and showcase teams for three years.

Steve Teel

Steve was a high school player at Ridgefield Park HS, and continued to play in college at New Jersey City College. He has been a full-time instructor at TEELS since 2001.  Steve coached St Joe's Regional HS Freshman Team.  Steve coached the 8U & 15U Northern Valley Ravens club baseball teams.

Lee Rubin

Lee Rubin has been a batting and catching instructor at Teels since 2005. A native of West Orange, “Coach Lee” is a graduate of the University of Mary Washington where he was named a member of the Eagles “Silver Anniversary All-Time Baseball Team.’’ Following his playing days at UMW, Lee went on to play 5 seasons of professional baseball in various Independent Leagues and served as the hitting coach for the Kalamazoo Kings of the Frontier Professional Baseball League in 2010. After his playing career concluded, Lee became a full time Teels instructor and currently serves as co director of the TOI Catching School. In 2015 Lee founded the Lady Ravens Club Softball program which has steadily become one of the finest travel softball programs in New Jersey. With teaching and player development serving as the
programs central tenet, Coach Lee and his staff continue to accomplish their goals of helping young players achieve their softball dreams.

Mike Lamitola

Mike played 2nd base for Seton Hall University, and was the captain of the team in 1990. He was drafted by Baltimore Orioles in 1990, and has been coaching Baseball since 1992. He has been a Teels instructor since 2007, and serves as the Infield Camp Director, Summer Camp Co-Director, and Camp Director for Head Start Programs. He has many years of experience, extensive baseball knowledge, and carries his love of the game into all his instruction.

Patrick Mulkeen

Patrick played for Waldwick Baseball from ages 5-14. He was the Waldwick American League Captain in 2009, and serves as the Hitting and Outfield coach for John Jay College. He has seven years of instruction and coaching experience with over 7,000 hours of private and group lessons. He is the former Head Instructor at In The Swing, and joined Teels in 2013.

Erick Fernandez

Erick has been an instructor with Teels for three years now and has seized opportunities to learn from head instructors such as Garret Teel, Mike Lamitola and Patrick Mulkeen. Overall, he has four years of coaching and instructional experience stemming from his origin at Luna Baseball and Softball Academy. Erick played three years of varsity baseball at Paramus Catholic High School, where he served as the Center Fielder and leadoff hitter for Paramus Catholic. Helping lead the Paladins through some of their most successful seasons since 2000. He had the opportunity to play for renowned club organization US Elite Baseball during his high school years. After his high school career ended, Erick graduated from The College of New Jersey while cementing himself into the Teels family. Erick serves as one of our youngest and brightest instructors at Teels as he strives to continue learning each and every day. He is dedicated to providing outstanding instruction as he takes a personal interest in ensuring your child receives the highest quality instruction. Erick offers instruction to all age levels and specializes in hitting instruction. Erick has been a mainstay during popular camps serving as a lead assistant in camps such as Soft Hands Infield Camp, Head Start, Teels Summer Camp and Outfield Camp. Erick also acts as Head Coach for one of the 14U Teel's Ravens teams, as he has been a Teel's Ravens coach since 2019. 

 

Ed Klimek

Ed has worked at Teel’s since 1999. One of the longest tenured employees at Teel’s. He runs most of the team camps and summer camps throughout the year. He is also the head baseball coach at Teaneck HS since 1992, 30 years. While still in college, he was the assistant coach at Clifton HS for 2 seasons. Ed has over 300 wins and has helped send numerous players to play college baseball. He graduated from Clifton HS in 1987 where he was an all-league, all-county and all-state baseball and football player. Played football at Lafayette College before transferring to Montclair State College where he played baseball. He has coached for over 30 years and have a tremendous amount of experience and knowledge. Ed loves coaching and working with young athletes and watching them develop into great players.

Kyle hauge

Kyle Hauge has a lifetime of playing experience. Kyle grew up continuously being around the game of baseball; having played AAU baseball as a youth, a 3 year varsity starting third baseman and pitcher at Pascack Valley High School, and having played at the collegiate level. He was a part of many big moments that develop a players confidence through experience. After winding down his playing career, Kyle returned to Pascack Valley High School in the 2010 baseball, as the team’s hitting, pitching, and first base coach during games. That year Pascack Valley went on to win the County Championships, while finishing 3rd overall in the state of New Jersey.

 

Frank Salvano

Frank is a member of the NJ Coaches Hall Of Fame. While coaching at St. Joes Frank became the all time winningest coach in Bergen County with 630 wins. Also includes the most County Championships with 7 and 6 State Championship Titles. Is a two-time recipient of the Star Ledger Trophy for the #1 team in New Jersey. 

 

Jordi Alcantara

Jordi is a highly motivated individual who easily translates his outgoing personality into a learning environment effectively. Attended and pitched at Fisher College for 2 years before transferring to William Paterson and pursuing his degree full time in Sports Management . Jordi joined Teels Fall of 2020 acting as one of the pitching instructors and one of the head trainers at the Top Gun program.

 

Justin Gomez

Justin is currently the first assistant baseball coach and recruiting coordinator at Bard College located in Annandale on Hudson, NY. Justin played college ball at University of Tampa from 2012-2014. He joined the Teels staff in 2019 as one of the head trainers in the Top Gun program.

Jason Palmeri

 Jason joined the Teels staff in 2018. He currently is one of the head trainers for the Top Gun program. Jason played 4 years of college baseball where he was a starting pitcher. He played two years at Rutgers Newark University and 2 years at William Paterson University. Jason graduated from William Paterson with a degree in Marketing. He is currently a Marketing lead that runs all of Teels social media, along with the development of the website.

 

 

Michael Federico

Michael played 3 years varsity at Fair Lawn High School (catcher/second basemen). Captain of the baseball team. Played for the Teel Ravens for 4 years. Attended the TOI Catchers program for 8 years. Currently attending Seton Hall University

 

Shane Callery

Coach Shane has been with Teel‘s for over three years as a Hitting, Fielding, and Catching Instructor. He is also a coach for our Ravens baseball program, leading our teams in the spring, summer, and fall seasons. Coach Shane played at the varsity level when he attended New Milford High School, and then played at the collegiate level for Bergen community college. After graduating Bergen Community College in 2021, Coach Shane has gone on to Ramapo College to continue his education.

 

Samantha Traub

Sam works at our front desk, helping clients and booking appointments. She has been a support team member since 2019.
